Sri Mandeswara Swamy Temple or Saneeswaralayam is the only Saneeswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. It is famous for Shani Graha Dosha nivaranam. In Manadapalli kshethram, Lord Shaneeswara installed and performed pooja for Shiva Linga. As Mandagamana is another name of Shaneeswara, Shiva Lingam here is known as Mandeeswara and the place is called to be Mandapalli.

SRI MANDESWARA SWAMI TEMPLE is Situated 38 Km from Rajahmundry, 60 Km from Kakinada and 30 Km from Amalapuram.

First take a dip in the river Godavari Canal. At the entrance of the temple, Galigopuram is amazingly carved with God and Goddesses impressions. Then at the main entrance there is Panchaloha Dwaja Sthambha. There are idols of Lord Vinayaka and Nandeeswara Swamy. After performing pooja for Nandeeswara, one can visit Mandeswara Swamy (installed by Shani Deva) and Goddess Parvathi (installed by Sapta matrukas).

Legend:

According to Skanda Purana, the legend goes like this:

In days of yore, this region was the sacred ashram of the sage Dhadhichi Maharshi. This hermit  Dhadhichi has done a supreme sacrifice of donating his valuable spinal card for the strong and intense weapon prevalently known as the Vajrayudha of Lord Indra. Which was utilized to kill the dangerous asuraas. The weapons wielded by the eight suras in the eight directions called  Astadikpalakas, killed countless spooky evil presences (the asuraas). To avenge the demise of these evil presences, certain other demons called Aswadha and Pippala invaded the region under reference and brought about untold hevoc.

Finally the eminent hermit "Agasta" living in South India obliging the prayers of the people and their king, guaranteed them of the demise of these against in the hands of "Lord Sani" the child of the Sun god. Further they bid Sani deva to secure them by putting an end to these terrible demons "Aswadha and Pippala". Sani decided to kill the demons for which he needed to wage a war for one long year and killed them.

As a mark of this glorious victory he installed an idol of "Lord Siva" here. This installation of Sivalinga got to be essential for atoning sins of kings that belonged to Kasyapa Dynasty. So in obidence to the scared advise of the Maharushis, Sani atoned te sin of Brahma hatya by installing and adoring Lord Siva. After that Sani declared  that whoever worship this Linga by offering the   gingelli oil and so on., would be blessed. He further said that he would bless such devotees obviating all indecencies that befall them because of the curse satru. For this reason, Lord Eswara is prominently known as Saneswara of Mandeswara. So people offer gingelli products which are of high repute to Sani who is the diety here.
